Rare Books on North Carolina A&T History (Some now have e-versions)

Special Collection books are located in the 2nd Floor Archives and Special Collections Room, and are for in house use only. To view one of titles, please ask one of the archives librarians. Below are a few titles on the history of North Carolina A&T State University.

Rare Book Collections

Archives and Special Collections has the following gifted libraries of noted A&T faculty, alumni, and special donors.

President F. D. Bluford Rare Book Collection - The personal library of Dr. F. D. Bluford, A&T 3rd president (1925-1955) includes many rare volumes on history, civics, education, religion, agriculture and literature. 

President Warmoth T. Gibbs Rare Book Collection - Dr. Gibbs served A&T for over 65 years as dean, president (1956-1960), president emeritus and university archivist. His book collection includes rare volumes in Black History, law, political science, copies of personal works, and materials from his studies at Harvard University. 

Mattye Reed Rare Book Collection - Mattye Reed was the founder of the "Africa House" collection of rare African Art that is currently housed as the Mattye Reed African Heritage Center within the University Galleries in the Dudley Building. Her library collection includes dozens of rare books on African and African-American art.
