Rare Books on Genealogy, Family and Community Histories

Special Collection books are located in the 2nd Floor Archives and Special Collections Room, and are for in house use only. To view one of titles, please ask one of the archives librarians. Below are a few titles on the history of North Carolina A&T State University.

 

Rare Book Collections

Archives and Special Collections has the following gifted libraries of noted A&T faculty, alumni, and special donors.

President F. D. Bluford Rare Book Collection - The personal library of Dr. F. D. Bluford was gifted by First Lady Hazel Diffay Bluford. It includes rare title in all subject fields from agriculture to educational leadership. 

President Warmoth T. Gibbs Rare Book Collection - The personal library of Dr. Warmoth T. Gibbs has a focus on history, language, political science, law, with some materials from his studies at Harvard University. 

Mattye Reed Rare Book Collection - Mattye Reed was the founder of the "Africa House" collection of rare African Art that is currently housed in the University Galleries in the Dudley Building. Her library collection included dozens or rare books on African and American art.
