According to the Association of Research Libraries, scholarly communication is defined as “the system through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future use." Scholarly communication raises awareness and new thoughts in the areas of authors' rights, open access, institutional repositories, new models of publishing, copyright, the economics of scholarly resources, data management and accessibility, and preservation of intellectual assets.
F.D. Bluford Library provides the following services to support scholarly communication at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University: institutional repository services, data management planning and curation, electronic publishing, copyright and licensing consultation, assistance with measuring research impact, and the support of open educational resources. The Library’s Scholarly Communication Committee, appointed by the Dean of Library Services, provides leadership and oversight over these services. This document details the level of support for the aforementioned services.
