Services to Support Scholarly Communication

F.D. Bluford Library offers a number of services to support scholarly communication: 

  • Institutional Repository 
    The Library manages an institutional repository  for collecting, preserving, and disseminating the scholarly works of the University. 

  • Data Management
    The Library can assist researchers with identifying data repositories for publishing, sharing, and preserving data.   

  • Epublishing
    The Library can support the electronic publishing of journals and conference proceedings.

What is Scholarly Communication?

According to the Association of Research Libraries, scholarly communication has been defined as “the system through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future use." Scholarly communication raise awareness and new thoughts in the areas of authors' rights, open access, institutional repositories, new models of publishing, copyright, the economics of scholarly resources, data management and accessibility, and preservation of intellectual assets.
