What is RSS

RSS stands for "really simple syndication".  It is a method by which you can subscribe to a website's news stories , blog entries, or other content without having to visit the site of interest to determine if it has been updated. Many people use RSS to keep up to date on with research.

RSS became popular with the growth of blogs as a way for people to keep up with their favorite web information. However,  it is being used increasingly by a variety of websites including those with commerical and educational news content. For researchers that's what makes it so useful . More and more valuable content is becoming available via RSS everyday.
