Creating links with DOI

DOI stands for Digital Object Identifier. A DOI is a unique identifier assigned to an article, book, book chapter, or other digital object. Sometimes a DOI is assigned to an article, but the publisher does not provide a link that can be readily used and shared. In order to create a link, you must copy the DOI into a DOI resolver.

Here is an example of a DOI in a citation:

Once you have copied the DOI, append it to the following URL: http://0-dx.doi.org.sheba.ncat.edu/. The URL for the following example would be

http://0-dx.doi.org.sheba.ncat.edu/10.1186/2052-4374-25-15
